After having a calm weekend due to the bye, the Roosters hit the field looking to repay the fans after their Magic Round loss against the Cowboys. Unfortunately, the fans are still waiting for the fightback.
Another match where the Roosters were their own worst enemies with 18 errors in the match. I have said before, if the Roosters hold the ball and have a high completion rate, they inevitably win the game. 42% possession for the match and time in possession was 10 minutes less than the Melbourne Storm – need I say more? 60 more tackles in the match as well as 22 more missed tackles does not make for pretty reading for Roosters fans.
6 players backing up from origin and players who missed out on origin selection did not pull their weight which led to an abysmal performance.
16 points for in the last 2 weeks has got me questioning where has the attack gone? During the 6-game winning streak, the Roosters attack was flying, and everyone was standing back in amazement. Now the pressure rises on DCE, Teddy and Sam Walker to really come together and show that the last 2 losses were a blip on the radar for the season. Already having 2 byes where most teams have only had 1 and some none, the Roosters will need to switch into gears that we haven’t seen for a month to get back on the winning wagon.
Their roster is dotted with stars all over the field and bench, however they can’t just put it together still. When will the roster that most pundits agree is one of the strongest in the comp, be the powerhouse that fans want and deserve?
Was the 6-game winning streak a one off or will they win soon?
Yes Melbourne are still a powerhouse even though their start to the year has been diabolical. They still have the stars of the past and Sua Faalogo has been exceptional at Fullback. Credit where credit is due, Melbourne fought hard and as a team and this is where the Roosters could learn a thing or two.
Onwards and upwards to another away game in Canberra on Friday night!
